FSA, MAAA, FCA | Senior Actuarial Consultant

Sara Teppema has 30 years of health care and actuarial experience. She currently focuses on design and development of population health programs and value-based payment models.

Sara previously led the design of new payment models at Health Care Service Corporation; and prior to that she led the actuarial team at Valence Health (now part of Evolent Health). Her earlier experience was primarily in employee benefits consulting.

She is a member of the Society of Actuaries’ Board of Directors, and leads the SOA’s Diversity & Inclusion strategy. She frequently writes and speaks for industry publications and conferences on the topics of population health, health equity and value-based care.

Sara holds a BS in mathematics/actuarial science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.
