Karen Fitzner

PhD | Research and Health Economics

Karen conducts applied research and economic analyses on chronic diseases, population health, efficiency, cost saving, and patient safety.

Previously, she taught Health Economics and Microeconomics at DePaul University, Chicago, IL.

As the American Association of Diabetes Educators’ (AADE) Chief Science and Practice Officer, she was the Principal Investigator for grants awarded by industry partners, led research efforts at the Disease Management Association of America, and engaged in research at Harvard School of Public Health. In these roles she has co-authored a number of peer-reviewed papers with Ian Duncan.

Dr. Fitzner co-founded the consulting firm Fiscal Health in Hong Kong and expanded the firm to the US.

Her MSc is from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Ph.D. in Community Medicine is from the University of Hong Kong. She is widely published and has presented at several healthcare and economics conferences worldwide.
